OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 12/01/2024, at approximately 5:00 p.m., Santa Ana Police Department officers responded to reports of a man with a firearm in the 1000 block of West MacArthur Boulevard. Upon arrival, officers encountered a male suspect holding what appeared to be a loaded rifle. The man did not comply. An officer discharged their firearm and shot and killed the man. Subsequent investigation revealed that the “weapon” was a plastic replica. The man had been unarmed. The incident is under investigation by the Santa Ana Police Department's Homicide Unit and the Orange County District Attorney's Office.
