On 12/04/2024, Reno Police Department (RPD) officers responded to a reported disturbance at a grocery store in the 500 block of Keystone Avenue in Reno, Nevada. Upon arrival, officers encountered a man who, according to police, was agitated and allegedly armed. Officers attempted to de-escalate the situation, but the man reportedly advanced toward them with a weapon. In response, an officer discharged their firearm, striking the man. The man was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The Washoe County Sheriff's Office is leading the investigation into this incident, in accordance with regional officer-involved shooting protocols.
