On December 4, 2024, officers with the Vicksburg Police Department (VPD) attempted to serve a warrant on 19-year-old Amarion Thomas at a residence on Bazinsky Road. The warrant was related to a prior assault on a police officer stemming from an incident on November 29, 2024, during which individuals were accused of burglarizing vehicles on Commerce Street. During the November 29 incident, a VPD patrol car was struck by gunfire, leading to the identification of Thomas and a 17-year-old, Artrial Bingham, as individuals of interest.
