On November 22, 2024, at approximately 6:28 a.m., 22-year-old Morgan Salomone was fatally struck by a marked Nassau County Police Department (NCPD) vehicle while attempting to cross westbound over Wantagh Avenue at the intersection of Duck Pond Drive North in Wantagh, New York. Salomone suffered multiple injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where they were pronounced dead at 7:05 a.m. Two officers involved in the incident sustained minor injuries and were also taken to local hospitals.
