On 12/08/2024, Olivia Marie Alvarez, 27, of Cedar Rapids, was traveling on U.S. Highway 218 when her vehicle was struck head-on by a vehicle driven by Brittany Dale Miles, 36. Miles, who was being chased by the Muscatine Police Department, entered oncoming traffic during the high-speed pursuit.
Alvarez was pronounced deceased at the scene. The Iowa State Patrol is leading the investigation into the crash.
