Authorities contacted a 52-year-old male inside the residence, who was reportedly hostile and threatened to shoot law enforcement officers while locking himself in. Officers determined that a 44-year-old female inside the home was deceased.

After several hours of phone communication, contact with the man was lost. Due to concerns about potential explosives, officers proceeded cautiously. At approximately 4:30 p.m. on December 6, the Kansas Highway Patrol entered the residence and found the man deceased from a presumed suicide.
