On 12/12/2024, a Tipton County Sheriff's deputy attempted to stop a 2014 Ford Fusion traveling southbound on U.S. Highway 31 near County Road 100 South for traffic violations. The driver did not stop. Police escalated a chase that continued into Hamilton County.

Shortly after passing 276th Street near Arcadia, the vehicle being chased crossed the median, entered the northbound lanes, and veered into the east side of the road, resulting in a rollover crash. The driver was pronounced dead at the crash site. The Indiana State Police are investigating the incident.
