On 06/06/2024, correctional staff at Pendleton Correctional Facility found Phillip Lee, a 49-year-old male inmate, unresponsive and alone in his cell. Lee, who was awaiting trial for the 2022 fatal shooting of Richmond Police Officer Seara Burton, was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities did not disclose the manner of death. The Indiana State Police are investigating the incident.
