On December 17, 2024, Deputy Dustin Colbert, 41, of the New Madrid County Sheriff's Office, was involved in a fatal vehicle collision on U.S. Highway 61 near New Madrid, Missouri. Deputy Colbert was off-duty, traveling with his two daughters, ages 6 and 8, at unknown speed when his vehicle crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a vehicle driven by 17-year-old Nevaeh Ladiamond Debose. Tragically, all four individuals sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash. The Missouri State Highway Patrol is conducting a thorough investigation to determine the circumstances leading to this tragic incident.
