OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On September 22, 2021, at approximately 8:00 a.m., 65-year-old Thomas Hungerford kidnapped 53-year-old Tammy Beechum from the parking lot of her workplace in Cadiz, Kentucky. Hungerford, described as Beechum's estranged boyfriend, was believed to be heading toward Maryland with her. Kentucky State Police initiated a search and located the suspect's vehicle, a Mitsubishi Montero Sport, on U.S. 27 in Lancaster, Kentucky. A brief pursuit ensued, ending near Stanford, Kentucky. Upon approaching the vehicle, authorities discovered the bodies of both Beechum and Hungerford inside. The deaths were determined to be the result of a murder-suicide. The Kentucky State Police Critical Incident Response Team investigated the incident.
