On December 24, 2024, Chattanooga police officers responded to reports of a man threatening people with a knife at a restaurant in the 7700 block of East Brainerd Road. The man left the restaurant and walked down East Brainerd Road with a knife. Officers located him and alleged that he threatened them. They opened fire and killed him.
