On December 22, 2024, Baldwin County Sheriff's Office deputies conducted a traffic stop on the Baldwin Beach Express near Cowling Road in Robertsdale, Alabama. During the stop, officers engaged in a physical altercation with 24-year-old Logan Tyler Swanson, being tackled by two deputies. Police claim that Swanson had a gun. One of the deputies opened fire and killed Swanson.
