On November 30, 2021, officers from the Laurel Police Department responded to a disturbance and weapon theft call at a residence located at 800 East 18th Street, Laurel, Mississippi. Upon arrival, they discovered an individual in a back bedroom. Efforts were made to coax the person out, but upon entering the room, the individual reportedly produced a handgun and fired at the officers. In response, police used deadly force, resulting in the individual being shot and killed.
