On December 29, 2024, Loudon County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence in Philadelphia, Tennessee. Upon arrival, Richard Brown fired a shotgun through the front door, striking a deputy. The injured deputy was transported to a hospital and is expected to recover. A SWAT team was deployed, and after a prolonged standoff, Brown was found deceased inside the home from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
