On December 30, 2024, Georgia State Patrol escalated a chase against an unidentified male driver at very high speeds in Grady County, Georgia. The chase ended when the pursued driver crashed on Highway 84 near Pine Park Road in Cairo. He was pronounced dead at the crash site. The incident is being handled in an internal self-investigation by the Georgia State Patrol.
