On 01/02/2025, Columbia Police Department officers attempted to stop a vehicle on Garners Ferry Road. The driver did not stop. Officers escalated a high-speed pursuit that eventually crashed into a bystander vehicle, killing the male driver and bystander Ryan Haman and his dog. The reasons for the chase are not disclosed.
