OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On September 16, 2021, officers from the Cleveland Police Department responded to a call in the Glenville neighborhood at approximately 2:30 p.m. Upon arrival at East 124th Street and Brackland Avenue, they discovered a woman, identified as Cuyahoga County Corrections Officer Valerie Gudger, deceased from multiple gunshot wounds to the chest.

An armed man, whose identity has not been disclosed, locked himself inside a residence at 686 Gray Avenue. The Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Office, including their SWAT team, was called to assist. After an eight-hour standoff, law enforcement officers forcibly entered the home around 10:30 p.m. and found the man deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
