OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On December 24, 2024, at approximately 10:15 p.m., Gaithersburg Police Department officers responded to a disturbance in the 300 block of North Summit Avenue. They encountered 35-year-old Marvin Salamanca Garcia, a Latino male, lying on the ground, covered in blood, conscious, and acting erratically. When Garcia stood up and walked away, officers detained him by placing him on the ground. While awaiting medical personnel, Garcia became unconscious and stopped breathing. Officers administered emergency medical aid until fire and rescue units arrived. Garcia was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead on December 26, 2024. The Maryland Attorney General's Independent Investigations Division is investigating the incident.
