On December 31, 2024, at approximately 12:00 AM, deputies from the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office conducted a traffic stop involving a motorcycle on McCutcheon Road in Hamilton County, Tennessee. During the encounter, the motorcyclist, identified as 41-year-old James Junior Holder, allegedly produced what appeared to be a weapon. Deputies opened fire, striking Holder. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) is conducting an independent investigation into the circumstances of the shooting.
