On 01/09/2025, Fort Lauderdale Police officers responded to a report of a fire in the 5300 block of Northwest 33rd Avenue. Upon arrival, they encountered an individual actively throwing incendiary devices near a large fire. Officers engaged the man in a confrontation and shot and killed him. The fire was extinguished without damage to nearby structures. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the incident.
