On 01/08/2025, at approximately 2:30 PM, Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) troopers initiated a pursuit after a driver did not stop for a traffic stop after an alleged traffic violation on Highway 64 in Fayetteville, Tennessee. Police escalated a chase at high-speed that ended when the vehicle crashed into a bystander on Highway 64 and Main Street. The driver who had been chased was pronounced dead at the crash site. The bystander driver was seriously injured and sent to the hospital. Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is leading the investigation.
