Officers at Marcy Correctional Facility assaulted Robert Brooks, 43, leading to his death, Robert Brooks had been transferred from Mohawk Correctional Facility to Marcy Correctional Facility. Brooks, handcuffed with his hands behind his back, was escorted into a medical examination room by multiple correctional officers. Body-worn camera footage released by the New York State Attorney General's Office shows Brooks being physically assaulted by at least 13 correctional officers. Officers punched, kicked, and choked Brooks. One officer was seen striking him with a shoe, while another lifted him by the neck and dropped him. Brooks remained restrained and did not appear to resist during the assault. The attack lasted several minutes, and despite his visible distress, no medical assistance was immediately rendered. He died the next day. He had been in jail due to assault.
