On 07/28/2024, at approximately 3:30 a.m., Deputy [Name Not Disclosed] and Dispatcher [Name Not Disclosed] of the Carroll County Sheriff's Department, both off-duty, reported discovering the body of 18-year-old Jackson Kradle along Illinois Route 78 and Lowden Road in Mount Carroll, Illinois.

The coroner's report stated that Kradle died from blunt trauma to the head, consistent with a motor vehicle-pedestrian crash. Subsequent investigations revealed that Kradle's DNA was found on the truck of the off-duty deputy, raising concerns about the circumstances of his death. The Illinois State Police are handling the investigation.
