On January 15, 2025, Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s deputies escalated a pursuit after a failed traffic stop in Woolwich at high speeds as the man continued fleeing until the driver lost control, crashed into a fence post and telephone pole, and was pronounced dead at the scene. The Maine State Police are investigating the incident.
