On January 19, 2025, officers from the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office and Haysville Police Department, supported by a regional SWAT team, executed an arrest warrant at a residence in the 100 block of Maple Street in Haysville, Kansas. The operation began with a full tactical deployment—armored vehicles were positioned for ballistic cover, entry teams staged with ballistic shields and breaching tools, and sniper-observer units established overwatch on surrounding angles.
Upon making entry into the home, officers encountered a male teenager who, according to official statements, pointed a firearm toward the entry team. SWAT operators opened fire, striking the individual. Immediate medical attention was provided, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. The Kansas Bureau of Investigation is leading an independent review, which includes analysis of body-worn camera footage, ballistic trajectories, and officer statements. The name of the deceased has not been released publicly, and no injuries to officers were reported.
