On January 18, 2025, Roswell Police Department officers, including members of the SWAT team, attempted to serve a warrant on 45-year-old Matthew Taylor at a residence on Ansley Drive in Roswell, Georgia. According to initial reports, Taylor barricaded himself inside the home and fired at officers during the standoff. After several hours, police alleged Taylor continued to display a firearm in a threatening manner. Officers opened fire, killing him. One officer sustained injuries during the incident but is expected to recover. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is conducting an independent investigation into the critical incident.
