OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On January 20, 2025, the Atlanta Police Department SWAT team responded to a barricade situation in a suburb of Atlanta. Police had received reports of an armed man inside a residence who reportedly began firing at officers who entered his home. The SWAT team was called in. After several hours of standoff confrontation, the man was shot and killed by police. During the exchange, one officer was injured and is expected to recover. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is conducting an inquiry into the critical incident.
