On January 16, 2025, officers from the Alliance Police Department responded to a call regarding a woman found dead at a residence in Alliance, Ohio. Upon arrival, officers identified 63-year-old Mason French as being involved in the woman's death. Police attempted to apprehend French, but he allegedly held a firearm and pointed it at officers. Officers opened fire, killing him at the scene. The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation is handling the investigation into the shooting.
