On December 25, 2024, at approximately 4:00 p.m., correctional officers at the Lauderdale County Detention Center in Florence, Alabama, discovered 43-year-old inmate Christopher Wayne McCluskey unresponsive in his cell. McCluskey was pronounced dead in his cell. He had been incarcerated since December 23, 2024, on charges of possession of an unspecified controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency's State Bureau of Investigation is conducting an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding his death.
