OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 12/16/2021, at approximately 2:30 p.m., Trooper Spencer Morris of the Arkansas State Police, along with U.S. Marshals, initiated a pursuit of a vehicle matching the description of one associated with a suspect wanted on felony warrants from South Carolina. Trooper Morris escalated the chase in West Memphis, Arkansas, and continued in Memphis, Tennessee. During which, at least one of the occupants of the vehicle fired shots at the officers, striking Trooper Morris. He returned fire, killing both occupants of the vehicle identified as 27-year-old Terrence Marquise and 18-year-old John H. Taylor. Trooper Morris was transferred to a local hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries and released. An investigation is being conducted.
