OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On January 21, 2025, Raleigh Police Department officers responded to a reported residential burglary in progress at a home on the 600 block of Democracy Street. Upon arrival, they heard shots fired from inside the residence. A 73-year-old man, John Rowe, was found deceased inside the home. Raleigh officers engaged in a shootout with Antonio Rodrigues, 70, during which one officer was injured and taken to WakeMed for surgery while Rodrigues was shot and killed at the residence. The incident remains under investigation.
