On January 21, 2025, St. Paul Police Department officers responded to a report of a person experiencing a mental health crisis at a residence on the 1100 block of Rice Street. The individual was identified as 42-year-old Shuefaub "Shue" Xiong, who had been reported missing from Apple Valley on January 14, 2025. Upon arrival, officers facilitated the safe exit of Xiong's relatives from the residence. Shortly thereafter, Xiong exited the home, ran around a corner, and died by suicide.
