On January 24, 2025, an off-duty Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officer and their spouse intervened in an assault occurring in a neighboring backyard near 6th Street and Avenue I in Boulder City, Nevada. The off-duty officer separated Jeremiah Boshard who was attacking a woman and escorted the woman to their residence. Boshard followed them to the front yard and ignored repeated commands to stop. The off-duty officer, Cesar Ibarra, and his spouse opened fire, killing the man. The man was pronounced dead on site. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is handling the case and conducting an internal investigation.
