James Rider, 31, was incarcerated at the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility in Palmer, Alaska, beginning on August 30, 2022, facing charges including trespassing and removing his ankle monitor. During his detention, Rider expressed feelings of hopelessness and was placed on suicide precautions, which involved being housed in a padded cell and wearing an anti-suicide smock.
