OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On January 29, 2025, at approximately 5:30 a.m., officers from the West Haven Police Department, in collaboration with New Haven police and the DEA drug task force, executed a state search warrant at an apartment in the 700 block of Grand Avenue in New Haven, Connecticut. Upon entry, a 35-year-old male suspect fired several gunshots, striking two West Haven officers in the leg. The officers returned fire, killing the suspect. The two injured officers were treated at a hospital and released. Three other individuals—a 32-year-old woman, a 52-year-old man, and an 8-year-old girl—were present in the apartment but were not injured. The Office of the Inspector General is investigating the incident.
