On January 30, 2025, around 4 p.m., Lake Worth police officers attempted to pull over a driver for a traffic violation. The driver fired at the officers and fled, leading to a chase that ended in the 1700 block of Skyline Drive. The man abandoned his vehicle and barricaded himself inside a residence. During the standoff, he set off fireworks and threw them at responding officers. After several hours, the man exited the house with a gun pointed at his head. Officers used less-lethal rounds in an attempt to disarm him, but he fired at the officers. In response, officers shot and killed him. No officers were injured.
