OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On January 29, 2025, at approximately 5:30 a.m., members of a Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) task force, including officers from the West Haven Police Department, attempted to execute a state search warrant for narcotics at an apartment complex on Chapel Street in New Haven. Upon entry, a 35-year-old male resident opened fire on the officers, striking two in the legs. The officers shot and killed him. The injured officers were treated at a hospital and later released. Three other individuals in the apartment, including an 8-year-old girl, were unharmed. The Connecticut State Inspector General's Office is investigating the incident.
