OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 07/24/2023, Kennesaw Police Department officers responded to a home in the 4100 block of Kentmere Main in the Legacy Park subdivision after receiving reports of a 42-year-old man experiencing a mental health crisis while barricaded inside the residence with several children. Officers safely removed the children from the home before establishing a perimeter.
The Cobb County Sheriff's Office SWAT team responded and attempted to negotiate with the man for several hours. During the standoff, officers deployed a drone into the residence. The drone located the man deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. No officers fired their weapons during the incident.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was requested to assist with the death investigation.
