OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On January 31, 2025, at approximately 2:00 p.m., Tarrant County Sheriff's deputies arrived at the 5600 block of Twin Oaks Drive in Haltom City, Texas, to serve a mental health warrant for 19-year-old Christopher Loyo. Family members had requested the warrant due to Loyo's recent erratic behavior and paranoia. Upon entry, deputies encountered Loyo armed with a knife. During the confrontation, Loyo stabbed a deputy in the head and inflicted a severe laceration on the deputy's hand. In response, other deputies fired their weapons, killing Loyo at the scene. The injured deputy was transported to a hospital and is expected to recover. The Texas Rangers have taken over the investigation into the incident.
