On January 13, 2025, deputies from the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office responded to a call regarding a man experiencing a medical emergency. While being transported to a hospital, the man briefly escaped from custody but was quickly apprehended. Shortly after being taken back into custody, he collapsed and was pronounced dead.
