OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On January 22, 2025, at approximately 9:50 a.m., a Roswell Police Department officer was responding with lights and sirens to a call about a crash with multiple injuries. The officer was traveling southbound on North Main Street when Howard Peterson, driving an Oldsmobile northbound, attempted to make a left turn across two southbound lanes. The police vehicle collided with Peterson's car. Both Peterson and the officer were transported to a local hospital, where Peterson was pronounced dead. The officer sustained injuries but is expected to recover. The incident is under investigation to determine if departmental policies and procedures were followed.
