On January 30, 2025, Lake Worth Police Officer Krista Segeda conducted a traffic stop on Nicholas Scott Sides, 35, in the 5700 block of Azle Avenue in Lake Worth, Texas. During the stop, Sides fled, leading officers on a pursuit into Sansom Park, where he crashed his vehicle and fired at officers before fleeing again to a residence in the 1700 block of Skyline Drive in Fort Worth. After evacuating Sides' mother from the home, a standoff ensued. Sides fired at officers multiple times, refusing commands to surrender. A Fort Worth Police Department SWAT officer ultimately shot and killed Sides. The incident is under investigation.
