On February 5, 2025, Avon Police Department escalated a chase of a vehicle for unknown reasons at high speed that ended when the vehicle crashed into a bystander vehicle carrying two small children on US Highway 36 and County Road 625 East in Avon, Indiana. A seven-month-old baby boy died at the crash site while a three-year-old was transported to a local hospital with injuries.
