OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On February 6, 2025, around 4:30 PM, San Antonio Police Department officers attempted to stop a stolen vehicle near the intersection of North Flores Street and West Commerce Street in downtown San Antonio. The vehicle had been reported stolen earlier that day and was under surveillance by undercover officers. When uniformed officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop, the driver refused to comply, prompting officers to deploy spike strips. Despite these measures, the driver continued to evade law enforcement, colliding with patrol vehicles and driving toward officers. In response, two officers discharged their firearms, striking both occupants of the vehicle. The vehicle subsequently crashed into a building and caught fire. Nathaniel Moreno, identified as one of the suspects, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other occupant was transported to a hospital in critical condition. No officers were injured during the incident. The officers involved have been placed on administrative duty pending the outcome of the investigation.
