OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 03/11/2021, Kenneth White, 42, of Aurora, Illinois, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound while Mount Pleasant police pursued him following a bank robbery in Sturtevant. Police responded shortly before 11:30 a.m. to an armed robbery at Tri-City National Bank on Durand Avenue.

Police alleged that White left the bank with money and drove away. Mount Pleasant police located the vehicle on Oakes Road near State Highway 20 and began pursuing it.

The pursuit continued west on Highway 20. Police reported that White's vehicle began slowing and that White then sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sturtevant police continued the investigation with assistance from Mount Pleasant police and the FBI.
