On December 3, 2021, at approximately 9:30 p.m., Alhaji M. Sow, an 18-year-old student at the Florida Institute of Technology, was involved in a campus incident. Sow reportedly assaulted multiple fellow students with a knife, leading to a confrontation with law enforcement officers. During the encounter, Sow allegedly lunged at an officer with a pair of scissors. In response, officers discharged their weapons, fatally wounding Sow. The incident occurred in a residence hall on the university's campus. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the use of deadly force in this case.
