OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
A patrol officer from the Sarasota Police Department responded to a call reporting gunfire in the 2400 block of Bay Street in Sarasota, Florida. Upon arrival, the officer witnessed a man, later identified as Scott Tiati, 52, shooting and killing a woman in front of them. Tiati had also killed the woman's dog. The officer fired at Tiati, but it was not immediately disclosed whether Tiati's death resulted from the officer's gunfire or from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
