On 02/12/2025, at approximately 5:40 p.m., Phoenix police received a report of a man, later identified as 41-year-old David Garcia, allegedly forcing a 25-year-old woman into a truck near 51st Avenue and Interstate 10. Officers tracked the vehicle to the area near Williams Field and Higley Roads in Gilbert. Around midnight, as officers attempted to engage the vehicle, a shooting occurred. Both Garcia and the woman sustained gunshot wounds; Garcia was pronounced dead, and the woman was hospitalized in critical but stable condition.
