OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On February 13, 2025, at approximately 6:30 a.m., Cathedral City Police Department officers received a report of a suicidal individual near the Napa Auto Parts store. While en route, 38-year-old local resident Enrique Gonzalez contacted the police, stating he was armed and had relocated to a parking lot at the intersection of Buddy Rogers Avenue and Monty Hall Drive. Upon arrival, officers attempted to engage with Gonzalez, who then fatally shot himself with a firearm concealed in his vehicle. Officers provided medical assistance, but Gonzalez was pronounced dead at the scene. The Riverside County Coroner's Office has taken over the case, and Gonzalez's family has been notified.
