Jacksonville police responded to reports of vehicle break-ins at a car dealership. Officers arrived and ordered the man to surrender. He ran, and an officer attempted to use a Taser, but it was ineffective due to the man's heavy coat. He jumped a fence and entered a nearby retention pond, where he went under and did not resurface. Officers threw flotation devices, but he drowned. A dive team recovered his body.
